Sarah Ake
I see music in everything I do.
Since I first picked up the oboe in middle school, music has been the driving force in my life. Over the years, I’ve expanded my experience through performance, composition, and study—playing in honor bands, youth orchestras, and intensives across the Southeast. My main instrument is Oboe, but I also enjoy playing Trombone, Saxophone, English horn, and experimenting with electronic music.
Currently, I'm pursuing a degree in Music at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), with plans to graduate in Summer 2026. I'm also gaining hands-on teaching experience as an oboe instructor at a local middle school—an opportunity that allows me to share my passion and help young musicians grow.
My interests include oboe performance, music technology, and composing for ensembles and games.
Outside of music, I run Mazurka Pens, a business where I design and handcraft custom writing instruments, shipping across the U.S. and Canada. I also enjoy visual art, computer gaming, and cooking.
With a family full of musicians and artists, I’ve been lucky to have constant support on this journey—and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
